Milltown Outlaws 2026 Season Preview

The Milltown Outlaws enter the 2026 Federal League season looking to build on a strong and competitive 2025 campaign. The team finished with a 10–8 record, scoring 110 runs while allowing 89, demonstrating their ability to compete with some of the league’s top clubs. With a potent offense and several key arms returning, the Outlaws will look to turn last year’s success into an even deeper run this season.

Offensively, Milltown was one of the more productive lineups in the league, averaging 6.1 runs per game. Several Outlaws hitters turned in outstanding performances at the plate, helping drive the team’s run production throughout the season.

Leading the offense was Tony Rome, who delivered a tremendous all-around season. Rome finished with 25 hits, a .431 batting average, and 21 RBIs, serving as one of the team’s most consistent run producers. Nick Davis also contributed another strong season with 21 hits and a .404 batting average, continuing to be a key presence in the middle of the lineup. Scott Paulson added a solid .389 batting average, remaining a dependable contributor offensively.

The Outlaws lineup showed additional depth as well. Brett Hoffmann made an immediate impact in his first season with Milltown, hitting .500 in limited appearances while driving in seven runs, showing flashes of the offensive punch he can bring to the lineup.

One challenge for the Outlaws this season will be the temporary absence of Brent Cheney, who is recovering from knee surgery. Cheney was one of Milltown’s most productive hitters in 2025, collecting 22 hits while batting .440. His presence in the lineup will certainly be missed early in the season, but the Outlaws are hopeful for a healthy return once he completes his recovery.

On the mound, the Outlaws featured a balanced pitching staff led by several experienced arms. Tony Rome and Nick Davis anchored the rotation, each earning three wins while logging more than 28 innings apiece. Rome also led the team with 30 strikeouts, showcasing his ability to control games on the mound.

Veteran pitcher Bill Dunker delivered one of the most impressive pitching lines on the staff, going 3–0 with a remarkable 0.34 ERA across more than 20 innings, providing crucial stability whenever he took the mound. Russ Bauer also contributed key innings throughout the season, helping round out the rotation.

With a lineup capable of producing runs throughout the order and a pitching staff anchored by experienced veterans, the Outlaws have a strong foundation heading into 2026. While Cheney’s absence will create an early-season challenge, it also opens opportunities for other players to step up and contribute.

As the new season approaches, Outlaws fans can expect another exciting summer of baseball as Milltown looks to climb the standings and position themselves for a deep playoff run in 2026. If the Outlaws’ bats stay hot and their experienced arms continue to deliver, Milltown could be a team to watch as the Federal League season unfolds.
